The Badlands is an ultra-marathon race held in the south of Spain, with an approximate length of 800km and a cumulative altitude of approximately 16,000m.
The route starts in Granada, passes through the Sierra Nevada, the Gorafe Desert, the Tabernas Desert, Cabo da Gata and finishes in Almeria.
Badlands is considered one of Europe’s greatest natural landscape challenges in the gravel category. Participants can compete solo or in pairs on a “Bike Packing” basis, and in either case they must complete the race without external aids.
Although the plan must be made in advance, it must be carried out on a daily basis and it is not possible to book accommodation or lodging unless it is on the same day. Participants have six days to complete the route. During this time, there are checkpoints and places where you can rest, eat and refuel. Any mechanical and/or health problems must be dealt with independently by the participants themselves.
